What a year it was! Tasty, yet weird!
Photographing Gaziantep cookbook, I spent great deal of time in the city, meaning I had the opportunity to eat great deal of home cooked meals, prepared by housewives, tasty and made me think, can you top that…
The food event of the year was Oxford Food Symposium. I got the opportunity to meet with Harold McGee, Claudia Roden, Charles Perry, Paul Levy, Elisabeth Luard, Sami Zubaida, Jill Norman amongst others. I was star-struck!
Not to forget, it was a great surprise to find put they have oyster served in Rock Werchter, where I got to listen live some of my favorite bands, sipping white wine, shucking oysters, listening rock! Hell, yeah!
Started writing on the fun and great magazine XOXO amongst Babylon Dergi, featured on Travel and Leisure, Thomas Cook, Jazeera Magazine as Istanbul Food as well…
Books books…. I proudly own a copy of Modernist Cuisine. Book of books, top of the top. If you like to have you copy, you may order from Homer Books. The one and only book provider of the Tuba Şatana Food Library!
Another great thing was I got a table and dined at Dinner By Heston Blumenthal (post coming soon). Everyone of us have a chef, Heston Blumenthal being mine, I had a divine meal, cool, eloquent, simple, perfect!
Due to the work load (being a food and beverage instructor and a photographer), I could not write as much as I wanted to, but halas this year I am eager to share more of what I discover, love and appreciate…
Travelled to Rome, Venice, Gaziantep, London, Belgium, Bodrum, Ankara, more Gaziantep, more London year passing swiftly. Had great food tours with food aficionados like yourselves in and around Istanbul, now waiting impatiently for meeting new food lovers.
So, least but not last, wishing all a delicious and fruitful 2012 and a big appetite!
